Your information

Privacy notice

This notice explains how I Went Anyway handles information when you use the website, free beta and invited AI Companion beta.

Who is responsible

I Went Anyway is an independently operated UK wellbeing project. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to iwentanyway@outlook.com.

Information that stays on your device

Your event names, dates, places, symptoms, predictions, support plans, reflections and Companion chat history are stored in your browser. We do not receive that journal or chat history as a stored account record. Anyone with access to your unlocked device and browser may be able to view it, so use the in-app delete options if needed.

AI Companion messages

When an invited tester sends a Companion message, that message and up to six recent chat messages are sent securely to OpenAI to generate a reply. Event-plan details are included only when you switch on the event-context option for that message. API storage is disabled for these requests. Do not include medical records, identifying information about another person, or anything you do not want processed for a reply.

Information we receive

Why we use it

We use signup information with your consent to contact testers and send beta updates. We process Companion messages to provide a reply, apply safety checks, prevent misuse and enforce the five-message daily limit. We use feedback and support messages to reply and improve the beta.

Sharing and processors

We use service providers for website hosting, database storage, AI generation, email and payments, including OpenAI for invited Companion messages and Stripe for payments. We do not sell personal information.

Retention

Local journal and chat information remains until you clear it or your browser storage. Beta details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Pseudonymous access and usage records are kept while the restricted beta operates. Support, feedback and payment records are kept only as reasonably needed or legally required.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe by replying with “unsubscribe” or emailing us. You may ask for access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold. You can delete local journal and chat data inside the app.

Cookies and local storage

We do not currently use advertising or behavioural analytics cookies. Browser storage keeps your chosen plans, chat and settings on your device, and a service worker supports reliable loading.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
